Denim Staples

In case you didn’t read my last couple posts, spring is my favorite season! I love, LOVE spring! I mean who doesn’t right? Not only do I love spring because I get to wear all these pretty “springy” outfits, but I also love it because it’s warm enough to go bare legs while at the same time wear long sleeves! I will say, when I was younger, I didn’t like much the idea of wearing long sleeves shirts with skirts. However, over the years, I have learned to spice things up a bit and get out of my comfort zone and try new trends!

One of my current spring trends is denim. I can’t express enough how much I love denim and naturally I love the fact that it is so trendy right now; although, I can’t even think of a time when denim was not trendy. I mean we wear denim jeans just about everyday, for our entire lives. Unless of course, your day job does not allow you to wear jeans, but that’s another story lol. The fact is denim has always been trendy, but currently it is trendy without a doubt!

Just to give you an idea of how much I love denim and how it has always been in style, and of course in my closet, I purchased this denim skirt when I was in high school! Yes, in high school!! I have now graduated high school and college and have been out of college for a few years, so that probably tells you how old this skirt is and how old I am too 😉

I purchased this skirt at American Eagle. It was my go to store when I was in high school. And although I have not shopped much there in the last couple of years, I love their store, especially their jeans and anything denim they have. Not only do I like their style, but I also love the quality of their clothes. The age of this skirt should tell you how good their quality is. Their jeans last a lifetime, just about lol.

I am the type of girl who is not afraid of “recycling” her clothes. If something fits and I like it, I will not throw it away just because it is no longer in style. Of course, if I have not worn something in like a year, it’s probably gonna have to go because chances are, if I have not worn it in a year, I might not wear it again. However, with denim I have to keep everything, until either A) I know for sure I am no longer going to wear it or B) until it is really old and worn out. Which this skirt may be old in age, but it definitely is not worn out!! So trust me when I say shop at American Eagle and you will not regret it.

So when I took this picture it was a little chilly outside, not gonna lie (it wasn’t totally spring yet lol). So since I wanted to do a denim look and since the weather was not very pleasant, I decided to pair my denim skirt with a long sleeve shirt. Which is why spring is so perfect because you get to do this more freely. I paired this denim skirt with a white long sleeve shirt. I’ve always liked a white and denim combo. I just feel like white is very “springy” and can never go wrong with denim. It gives it just that perfect contrast it needs, while at the same time giving it that chic and “fresh” look.

Another big trend this season are sneakers! I have never really been much of a sneakers person. In fact, I have really only owned sneakers to go to the gym. And it is not that I don’t like them, it’s just that I am a high heel and sandals type of gal. But I do like the fact that they are so trendy right now and look great when paired with skirts and a cute spring outfit like a romper or overalls. I do love me some converse though!!! So I paired my denim skirt with my converse for this look for a more casual style and I loved it. I liked that it was a casual and relaxed look, while at the same time, the white top and skirt combo created the perfect chic look I am always aiming for.

What about you my loves? What are some of your favorite spring trends this season? By the way, happy early Easter!! XOXO!!

  2. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.
